Located at 2119 W. Vineyard Street in Wailuku, The Empanada Lady occupies a historic building and a restaurant has always had a presence there for as far back as records indicate. “After two long years of road construction and internal renovations, The Empanada Lady has upgraded to The Empanada Lady Restaurant and Lounge,” says owner Chef Sarah Kleiven. “To celebrate our VIP reopening, we are featuring small plate samplings, a silent art auction, and live music. Those joining us will be the first to set eyes on the many renovations and enhancements of the restaurant including a fresh look, expanded dining, a covered patio, and a new menu.”
Some of the new pupu, dishes, desserts and signature cocktails that are being sampled at the celebration are Stuffed include Plantain Cups with shrimp, Pork Belly or Avocado Salsa, Cuban Chicken Fricassee, Dominican Coconut Flan, and the Mo Betta Mojito. Some classic dishes such as Empanadas, Slow Roast Pork, and Guandule Rice are also being offered.
Grand reopening attendees will also enjoy the fine art of Frank B. Shaner on display and for sale at a live auction during this event. Tanama Colibri is an Afro-Taina singer and songwriter, an emotive, exuberant and exciting performer, born in the vibrant barrio of New York City’s Washington Heights to Dominican and Puerto Rican parents.
